Robert (Bobby) E. Goodson

It is with profound sadness we share Robert (Bobby) E. Goodson, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2024. He was surrounded by his devoted wife, children and stepchildren.

Bobby was born July 9th, 1940, in Ansonia, Connecticut. He grew up with his mother, Loretta Robinson Goodson, his father, James Goodson, and brother, James L. Goodson.

Bobby was employed by Yale New Hospital in his younger years and then the St. of CT, Southbury Training School until his retirement. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the United States Air Force.

If you knew Bobby, then you know he lived life on Bobby’s terms, unapologetically. Bobby never worried about time. If he said he would meet you at 7:00 he might show up at 9:00, if you were lucky.

Bobby lived life to the fullest every day. He said each day is a gift. He loved to travel especially cruises with his wife, Sue, for the past 30 years; spend time with his family, eating a good meal and talking; meeting his brother for lunch, shopping, playing video games, reading and a saver of many things.

Bobby is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Peterson, of Middletown, CT. Brother, James L. (Elaine Huckaby) Goodson. Cherished children, Loretta Goodson, Robert Goodson Jr, Katina Goodson. Stepchildren, Edward Peterson, Emma (Austin Hunter) Peterson. Nieces and nephews, Jaryn (Robert) Travers, James L. Goodson, Jr, Jason (Tiffany) Goodson. Grandchildren, Savanah, Ariel, Katia and Elana. Great-nieces and nephews, Robyn, Amber, Robert (RJ), Jaydeann; and cherished, lifelong friend, Walter (Sue) Fountain.

The family would like to thank the staff of Middlesex Hospital for such great care, especially CCU staff- Lauren, Dr. Phil, Dr. Perez, Director of nursing on CCU, South 6 staff and Dr. Sampt, Dr. Adeleke, Dr. Iqbal, Dr. Post Madelyn, Social work dept., and all the other staff that provided care.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with family and close friends.
